Yesterday was exceptionally exciting. I received in the mail my London to Brighton Ride Guide with all the information about this year's L2B. As if that wasn't exciting enough, I received another two today. Yes, all the same, all addressed to yours truly. Clearly, British Heart Foundation are as excited as I am about having me participate in this year's ride.
So, it seems, it's GAME ON. This means I'm going to have to actually get back on my bike, and soon. As I write this at about 6.40 pm, the sun has just set and it still wouldn't be possible for me to cycle home from work (I'm not yet stupid enough to try riding in the dark) but I have a secret weapon - the clocks go forward this weekend, so I'll be back on my bike before you know it.
I think I'm going to have to explain the title of this post. This year, James and I are actually in the same team for the ride - not that we weren't on the same side last year, but we had each entered through our work teams, whereas this year I had a priority entry because you lovely people helped me to raise so much money for British Heart Foundation last year and I was able to invite James to join my team. "But why that name?" I hear you cry. Well, you'll probably remember that this time last year when I was just taking baby steps on the bike, I was a newly-wed. All my life, people have called me by my initials, "BB", occasionally getting clever and branching out into "B to the B", "Double-B" and the really horrendous "B-Squared", but then I got married and had different initials and no-one, including my husband, knew what to call me any more. We weren't even back off our honeymoon before James had changed my name, seemingly indelibly, to "Beeble". So, Beeble I am and I suppose Beeble I forever shall be. I cringe a lot when anyone else calls me Beeble, though, so please don't try this at home. It is for this reason that James and I shall be riding our bikes and fundraising for British Heart Foundation under the imaginatively crafted moniker "TEAM BEEBLE POWER". You can find our JustGiving page by clicking the link on the right hand side of the page, or by going to www.justgiving.com/BeeblePower.
I'll be back shortly with more stories of my cycling endeavours, so watch this space!
